Kicks and Bans

A considerable amount of discussion has gone on in the Disney-Ops list about the proper procedure for kicking and banning. While it would be foolish to set a hard and fast rule for this since situations vary greatly, we recommend the following procedure:
  1. Warn the user verbally
  2. Kick the user
  3. Kickban the user (a temporary ban)

Permanent Bans

If, after repeated kickbans, the user continues to cause problems, a permanent ban, set in copper with .ban, is probably in order. We only have four perm bans after thirteen months of running, so think carefully before you do this. It might also be a good idea to mail disney-admin@nmt.edu with your reasons for placing it.

If you do set a permanent ban, *please* give a reason for it, as the reason is stored in Copper's records and comes in handy more often than you might think when we have to go back and figure out who was banned and why.
